Day after Thanksgiving Grand Entrance

I would wish, one and all a Good Morning, but ...... let me fill you in on the situation here .....

I awoke just past the 8th hour of the morning, a dull, gray, damp, misty day at that, with a double armful of cats, one yellow, one black, while the two tuxedos, one black and white, one gray and white, were pile on their Small One.  She, (the Small One) by the way, slept through it all, and is still sleeping through all what's being noted here in this, our detailed transcription of 'what's happening in the SouthWoodsUSA™'.  So news of Herself will come at a later time/date than this.  That said, we shall continue.
Since I seemed to have gotten my sleep out, I arose to tend to my morning ablutions, was escorted, as has been the norm for the better part of 8 years, by the little yellow cat, in passing was badmouthed by the gray and white cat, darkly glared at by the lithe little black cat, and ignored by the large black and white cat ..... I quietly gathered up my garb for the day, slunk down the hall, turned on heaters first thing, and dressed with intentions of embarking on several heroic tasks of necessity inside and outside the manor house.
Well, I'm sure you know all about first good intentions of the day.  Mine were shot in the butt, this morning, just as soon as I realized I did NOT have to be up and stirring this early, was not, actually being PAID to do any of these things that were NOT even on the 'honey-do' list, and several other realizations (aka excuses), most of them being not worthy of mention here.
So!  Here I am, blathering in the Cats' Blather Blog instead of doing so in My Blog, which has been literally ignored for well nigh over a year now.  Seems I can't bring myself to differentiate between personal blogging and 'cat' blogging.  I've even found myself blogging in the forums, found on a very nice server with the name of Able Minds, even on our little part of Google+, and too Our Personal Forum on proboards.com by the name of Five Oaks Manor.  Yeah, now you get the idea ..... spreading the old mind a bit thin on too many places.
Well, the mind wasn't all that old when we started all this hoopla and senseless blather.  And, as is usually the case with the (then) soon to be retired people, no precise plan of action was developed.  We just went with the wind, followed the many friends we made almost daily, from one site to the next, weeding out this and that site for first one thing and then another.  Long story short, we are pulling in our tentacles, settling in to what time has shown us is the best of the best, well, with a few odd 'newbie' trial spots ..... only one of those now actually.
Have I mentioned, in past years, that I sometimes tend to wander, word wise, talk too much, and generally distract from the main subject no matter where I go?   Oh, yeah!  I just did.  And, that I do, more often than once, butcher the English language ..... well that can be excused when you are reminded that I am NOT English, not one little tiny bit of me.  I'm that Cherokee, Irish, Scottish lad what got tangled up with that tiny Sicilian, Italian, French, Hungarian, German Lass with the big dark eyes that hooked me in a short time while I was visiting in her resident country of Germany.  THAT subject is also due to be brought to light in another of the planned/upcoming episodes of the KnightOwl's Blather.
(A reminder here:  I am the KnightOwl:  the name being the nom de plume I assumed when we went into the 'forum posting business' big time well over a decade ago.)  Now, don't take it the wrong way my emphasizing the fact I am NOT English.  I am American, therefore a member of yet another fine, newer race of people that take their roots from one of the 'elder races' found here and there on this big blue marble we call 'home', although, after wandering the world for 16+ years in the uniform of one of the branches of America's armed forces, I feel like just another of the billions of residents of Earth.  Only barrier I feel I have to living the part is/are the many rules/regulations/laws set up, and enforced, by a small few people, most of whom should mayhap never been given the authority to draft/endorse/publish/enforce those items.  And, no, this is not an invite to discuss/debate politics, religion, or even the puzzle afforded us to the question "Who's pickup truck is that parked in the neighbor's driveway while he is away and she is alone!"
Had enough?  Want out of this particular blather?  Think I should 'get a life' and therefore move my main area of attention to the *shudder* more popular 'social sites' on the WWW?  Been there, attempted to do that, and have almost completely withdrawn from the leading ones.
Here I started before I delved into the depths of 'those areas sited', and here I'll remain, readers/followers or no!
Let me cut this episode off right here ..... don't know what instigated this lengthy entry, 'cept maybe the thrill of the, just passed, Thanksgiving day's visit and food fest (the food cooked and served by our youngest son and his Lady, in our kitchen where the Lady of the House was NOT allowed in), the food shared with our youngest daughter, her hubby and three of the grandgirls) ..... all this was NOT planned, at least by Lisa and Me.  Love me some children ..... grands too.
Life, especially in the holiday season, for me has not been all that pleasant with all the bad memories of lost friends, family, and brothers in arms, All those losses haven taken place in these last two months of the years past.  This year it is definitely a better holiday season just started.
There may be more readings posted this day ..... maybe tomorrow, whatever!  Just know that Buddy Bear, MikiCato, MS Smokey, Tegar, Rowdy, the Small One, and Me, the Large One, are back with plans to 'not wander off again' .
As always, I feel loved .....

Tuesday Night - Checking In Again

My laprobe (MikiCato) and I just wanted to let all know
we are still around.
Weather is sure nice tonight.
A good night to sleep with the windows open.
I'm sure that's where this one will snooze after the rest of us
turn in for the night.  Probably all the cats will sleep
in a window.  Summer is almost here.

From all of us at Five Oaks Manor, SouthWoodsUSA™, we wish you a good night, good sleep, and a fine day tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow ......
     As always I feel loved.
     Later .....

Monday - Muddllin around again ....

I'm here, I'm here.  I assure you I'm here, although I don't wanna be.  Hadn't planned on it, but I'm here.
Had some rather testy entreating comments from the Furbrothers early this morning, probably wanting me to play, but I took it they wanted me to curl in with them for a cat nap.  And, you know me, I hit the big feather bed with a bounce and an instant curl.  I wondered why there was no instant flurry of fuzzytails around me, but didn't really think much of it.  Of course I had very little time to THINK before I was out and cutting Zzzzzs like the pro I am.
Dratted phone, which I forgot to cut off, let me know, in no uncertain terms, I was NOT supposed to be in that particular position and, shall we say, frame of mind.  Anyway, wouldn't you know it was a knuckleheaded jaybird from down south in the big capitol city of Jackson, MS, babbling about my political and moral responsibility to vote and detailing the way I was supposed to vote, who I was supposed to vote for, etc, etc.  Needless to say, I was given NO chance of rebuttal there.  SO, I made note, forthwith, of the names AND the party, listing them under 'Ignore', 'Banish', and forevermore 'DO NOT VOTE' for.  Strangely enough, that list had numerous notes with the same names and party already posted therein.
Who was/were the offenders?  THAT, is for me (only) to know.  Enough.  I do not like 'nay sayers', never have, never will.
Cats!  Cats!  Where are the cats?  That is the question!  Do you have the answer?
I hear that question coming through the monitor loud and clear.  Someone is questioning me and my subject matter for the day here on Buddy Bear's Cats' World's Blog.  Well, good that you do.  I tend to wander around the main subject of late.  Once upon a time I was told that was good writing.  Now, it's Old Age.  Plain and simple.
As to the 6 Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor, I have seen ONE since arising from the big feather bed.  Buddy Bear.  Instead of curled in my arms as has been the usual these oncoming 11 years the little guy has lead the Furbrothers in their duties as guides, protectors, irritating agents, and general nuisances of all beings human residing the Manor House, he was curled to the Lady of the House, himself clinging to half the width it would normally take a Chihuahua puppy to keep from falling off the bed, curled in a big little ball of fluffy happiness, himself noisily chastising me for arising and awakening his royal self, threatening me to NOT awaken his Small One.
I assume he is still there, since he is not now sprawled in front of the monitor, all four feet flopping over the keyboard, tail flailing the morning air, angrily indicating his anger (the substance of that anger totally ignored by myself as my sign of opposition to his wishes).  Food is available, in abundance, in three places in the house, five bowls full to be exact.  And since there are no mice, gerbils, cabbits (cat trained rabbits, if you must know), midget hamsters, or other such fluffy, loving handfuls of domesticated happiness to wipe out said foodstuffs, he has no reason to be angry.  So HE gets ignored.  Usually not for long though.
Anyway, I am awake, they are asleep, I have a large, long and highly detailed 'honey do list' to attend to, and since the sun is out, the temps are nearing 50°, on the way to a blistering spring time high of almost 60°, and I am dead set on getting out of the house, if nothing more than to walk around said house to get the cricks and kinks the aches and ouchies and miseries out of myself's old bones.  The trip to town yesterday almost did Lisa and I both in, so daily exercise, of the minimum, walking, is the word of the morning EVERY morning the elements will allow.
Where is/are the picture(s)?  What pictures?  Do you actually think I would come in here and post a bunch of pictures and not have a say, broadcast a mess of nonsense, blather my way out of a little digital work?   Don't tempt me!
So be it.  I have had my say, nonsensical and light as it was, and now I am fulfilling my duty with the pictures.  At this point in the writing, I have no idea what picture I shall grace your eyeballs with, but I will now hit the files and see what we can see.

Ms. Smokey, one of my two little lady kitties,
residents of the Five Oaks Cat Porch,
in all her radiant beauty.
This one was taken a couple three years ago.
That doesn't satisfy you?  Well, contrary to my better instincts, I'll begrudgingly post another .......
     Lets see .....

This is Rowdy (the Tuxedo), mentioned in the past entry as being
on the  ailing  list.
Not anymore.  I'm watching thought.
The other (larger) rapscallion is his big brother,
mentor, and co-conspirator in all things mischevious,
Tegar, or 'Yellow Fellow'.  This one, of course,
was taken back near 8 years ago.
My how they have grown,
not only in size but mischievousness.

Well, this being the end of my endurance for sitting in this over-padded chair, I shall sign off with the wish that everyone should have a great day, a wonderful week, and all will find time to visit with us next time, when we randomly search for a blathery subject worthy of my efforts and, of course, your time in reading/viewing, and hopefully enjoying.
I now have a little black lap robe purring along in my lap, giving me the 'doe eyes' and acting very much like he thinks he has my number.  Well, he does.  But if you say so elsewhere I will say "you lie".
As always, I feel loved .....
     Later .....

Caturday - A Loverly Day in the SouthWoods

The little guy has always chattered, lately he's taken up singing.
That's all I needed.  A singing 'lap robe'.
Life is good in the SouthWoods, Rowdy is doing well.  In fact he and Miki got into a bit of a 'slapfest' and did a 'chase the tail' routine up and down the hall twice this morning.  No one won, no one lost.  No one lost face, nor, for that matter, fur.  So, all is well.
Have a happy, purry weekend everyone, and come see us when you can.
     As always, I feel loved.
     Later .....

Thursday, March 01, 2012

Well, here we are, back again after a whole month without even saying Hi or Hello.  Seems the longer we go the more often we disappear form the Blogs, and the longer it takes to get back to what we are supposed to be doing here.
I do thank all those who have made comments here on the blog wondering where we were and if we were alright, and too, the folks that have sent very sweet comments via Email as well.
Today there will not be much news, or for that matter, any pictures.  Life is not working like we want it to do every day, I guess because, every day we get one day older, and stuff and things get one day more travel worn and weary.
We have a sick kitty in the house, not sure what is the problem with him, but the problem with us is that we are hard pressed to be able to take him to the vet.  We are watching him very closely, to see what gives with him.
Maybe we have turned pessimistic and are 'jumping at shadows' with this but I'm thinking we have a little one with kidney infection.  We are hoping this is not true and all will be well.
All is well with the other Mouskateers.  The two outsiders have three visitor kitties that have been helping keep their dinner bowls clean and spotless.  Add to that, the two raccoons, Mom and wee one (well, not so wee now .... better than half mom's size and growing big time), the crunchy dinner bags are being emptied almost faster than we can replace them.
The Lady of the House is faring well, although her blood pressure is always a bit of a problem.  Must needs see to a change of meds for her.
As for me, it is the long time fight with old Arth E. Ritus.  He is more than a major contender for the fight lately.  I am taking my meds when I have no other choice, then I am taking other stuff and things to keep the heart running properly.  Simply said, I am here, I am on the ground running, and I am NOT giving up.  The two of us, Lisa and I, figure we have at least another 25 years to go before we take to the Bridge to be with all the little ones that are waiting there.  The kids say longer because we are to mean and ornery to leave.
Sorry if I seem depressing, or am posting boring stuff, just that I am not into making a bit of funny or light hearted blather this morning.  I may should have held off another few days until my Muse and I had our selves more in concert and could post a 'happyfied' bit of patter, but, after all, a month is a long time to ignore your responsibilities.
Now, after I sign this thing, I will go read as many of the Blogs my friends have updated, the new ones that have been opened since my last trip around the 'following list', and we will attempt to get back to normal posting wise.
Have a great Thursday, and again Furriday, and of course the weekend.
Here's love from Lisa and Me, and the 6 Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor ..... Rowdy (our little sick guy), Buddy Bear, MikiCato, Ms Princess, Tegar, and Ms Smokey, all of us located down in NE Mississippi in the neighborhood we call SouthWoodsUSA™.
     We will be back .....

Monday Morning Blather Blog - We're Back

I'm here!  I'm sorry, but I've been slacking, not only here, but in quite a few places on the 'interwebs' of late.  Even though the Mouskateers have been on my case to get with the postings.  My conscience has been bothering me as well, and with the last couple of emails and a post on the last blog post here, I'm thinking I had best mend my slacker's ways.  With this post I am hereby attempting to 'turn over a new leaf'.  It being the first of my New Year's Resolutions (ain't had none of them things in years), I had best begin.
Anyway, I'm sitting here all alone. Lisa and the boys are all abed now, and have been since around 10:30.  Well, my self appointed side-kick, Tegar the terribbul, is curled to my left rear on the corner of the console in his nice comfy little 'doughnut' type bed with the baby blankie tucked in, awaiting my possible movement out of the computer room to 'go wandering he couldn't care less where but will lead me anyway'.
I'm thinking Miki is getting a case of 'jealous kitty' 'cause of his little brother.  Hell, I can't help liking it.  This little cream coulored kitty curls and lays his little head on my shoulder, or at least my upper arm, so daintily and so self assuredly that I just get the thrill chill when it happens.  I spend so many hours actually, just holding still, not moving, not making any undo movements or sounds, just so I don't wake him or cause him to move away.
Now, mentioning emails and such, I've one I must needs answer here on the blog if I may!
Myself says "you can", so here goes.
We've had some very nice PMs and Email from several of our friends of late, most inquiring after our welfare and the reasons for our absence from the Blogspot.com sites.  And too, we've had, inter-dispersed amongst those inquiries, the questions concerning spelling of the Names of our Kits, and other such, one more than any other ..... the spelling of the collective title we've attached to our little cat clowder here at Five Oaks Manor.  Mouskateers is the way we handle the spelling.  Simple explanation, Mouseketeers is the name our good old cartoonist friend, the father of Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney, called his little hero's fan club the one that a good many of us lecherous old farts and fartesses secretly claimed membership in way back yonder in the good old daze!  Enough of that!  The rest we'll consider approaching at a later date ..... (wonder how long I can get away with that 'promise'?)
Where's the pictures you may ask.  Well, somewhere in the computer on a very scrambled hard drive.  Upon taking on the task of 'cleaning up' and opening space on the external hard drive where I keep backup copies of all the thousands of jpegs, gifs, docs, and other of those assorted and sundry 'interwebs' type titled stuff and thingies I have accumulated over the years since my eldest son (may he get a bad sunburn on his Texas loving half-gray headed self's old nose for having started all this) introduced his dear loving old Pappy to the dreaded and most time consuming World Wide Web, I hit a major snag.  MAJOR!   I had half the storage deleted going for the whole carrot when I realized that all was not acting right on this oversized miniature brain box thingie.  I stopped it shy of half way through the process, checked files on the internal hard drive, and discovered the damn external attachment was shredding both external and internal at the same time.  (I have since deleted that little surprise 'extra added unknown origin's attraction' from the system thankyouverrymuch.
Short story long, I'm good to go again.
It was 'oh woe is me' there for a while until I remembered these newfangled machines (this one I can thank my numerous friends from the forums I'm a permanent member of for having providing for me) have a program called auto back-up or some such.  Stumbling around, I finally found it, and got all my goodies back.  NOW I have about three weeks of off and on work deleting (by hand, one at a time, not by 'auto this and that') the double and tripple copies.  Heh!  Better too many than not any at all I'm thinkin .....
Enough of this.  I know I've driven most of you away because of the lengthy babble ..... Blather is what I prefer to label it ..... so I'll cut short right HERE!
For Lisa, aka Small One, The 6 Mouskateers of Five Oaks Manor, and Myself, the KnightOwl, aka Large One, or Roy Sr, I'll bid you all, depending on where you live, a fond good night/morning, hope you have a great week, and will come see us again.
I (Me, Myself, and I) shall/will be taking more time on the postings here instead of leaving it to the ministrations of the wee ones since, as you all may well know, their paws just are not designed to handle these clackkeys on this board.  I will, however, be closely watched, coached, and prodded on by, MikiCato, Buddy Bear, Ms Princess, Ms Smokey, Rowdy, and little Tegar (my present self-appointed escort, guard, blanket, and occasional alarm clock).  NOTE HERE:  break the Teg from that damn alarm clock habit of his quick like.  I don't need no alarm clock, not even a cuddly one like him.
Y'all come see us when you can, take a minute to have a word or three, and we'll be seeing you round about the Blogs.  That's a promise (no crossed paws, or even tails about that!)!!

     As always, I feel loved.
     Later .....

Tuesday - The Intelligence of The Cat

Earlier in the day, I and a number of other keyboard jockeys, on a private forum we have been hosting/posting/chattering on for years, were discussing, debating, and generally dissing the intelligence of this and that high muckity-muck, and other such highbrow types that attend the 'elite class' schools, and come away with the 'tude that they are above, and are wiser than, those who did the scholarship routine in a more down to earth 'everyman's' school.  These people ofttimes be in positions of high responsibility, ie: politics and other such ..... and feel they are the only ones with the intelligence to handle the particular job they hold down.  (No offense intended if you feel you fit in that category.  We know you can't help it.  We know dad wanted you to go there, or possibly the head of the house, Mom!)
Somewhere down the line it dawned on this old 'scholarship recipient' that the true genius comes in a hell of a lot smaller packages than the individuals we were speaking of .....
Here, for everyone's edification and general information, is one of the True intellects, and confirmed rulers of the present day world in deep contemplation of one of our major problems the 'wise one' humons haven't been able to solve.
He's working on the problem at hand, concentrating in both the German and the English languages,  Of course, when the solution to  the major problem is arrived at, this little genius will disclose his simple and most straightforward solution in his OWN language, Catish, which, to this day, NONE of these 'leaders and shakers' of the world have been able to understand.

I'm sure all this has made some of you wonder, "What is going on here?  What is this crazy old Man talking about?
Actually, I'm talking about one of 6 little cats that rule my world daily, and, I might add, with a firm paw.  They are wise beyond the human contemplation.  They know when their beans are hungry, they know when their beans are sleepy, they know when their beans want to wake up and go into the kitchen and prepare food for them, open the doors for them, clean the windows for them so they can watch Bird TV, make a lap for them ..... Why is it they know all this when WE don't?  What school did they go to?  Do they look down their noses at those with 'less' intelligence and learning than they?
Just a few thoughts for everyone to mull around and consider the next time they start talking about the 'leaders and shakers of the world!'

Just look at this intelligent little guy.  He's always considering the problems of the world, the faults of the beings that populate all corners of the world, and, at the same time solving the problems his brofurs and sisfurs have to contend with while caring for, raising and training a couple of  'lesser beings', namely the Large One and the Small One.
Is not this a prime example of the upper echelon of 'Intelligent Beings' of the world?  Lets face it!  Cat is King!  Cat is our superior, our leader, our teacher.
Just a few thoughts here ....

Now, a brief note for all: Buddy Bear's Cats' World's Page on FaceBook has been cancelled, as has my account, Roy York Sr.  Buddy will confine his and his clowdermates appearances on the interwebs to this Blog, House Panthers Blog, and an occasional guest appearance on KnightOwl's Roost Blog.   Buddy's Web Site is still on line and open to public view.
We're sorry to leave the popular social networks, but we've run into too many unsavory types, namely those who thrive on spamming, slamming, and general disruption.  I'm too old for that crap, so I'm staying where I am, where my friends are, and where I can make a few comments off the top of my head without someone going ballistic and reading words into what I post.
Sorry, for the lengthy note, but there it is.  End of note.
Buddy and the girls and boys will try to continue in a timely manner here.  I'll not make promises I can't keep, but knowing the Bear, we'll be around more often now.
Y'all come see us when you can, and everyone take care, be safe, stay warm and dry, look to the care and protection of the little outsiders during these bad winter days ahead.

Here's wishing each and everyone visiting here a verry Merry Christmas.
Should you not be one to celebrate the Christmas Holiday,
then here's to much Holiday happiness in any form or fashion you choose.
Have a great rest of the year, and don't forget to hug your pets.
~Lisa and Roy Sr,
and Buddy Bear, MikiCato, Tegar, Rowdy, Ms Princes and Ms Smokey~
